The Invitational Summer Institute
![]()
The Boise State Summer Institute brings together a variety of educators. Elementary and Secondary teachers from public, private, and charter schools come together for four weeks in June to read and reflect on the latest research and educational theory, to discuss pressing issues in education, and to share best practices to enhance teaching. Participants also strengthen their understanding of the writing process by becoming writers themselves, compiling a portfolio of writing pieces throughout the Institute.
A highlight of the Summer Institute is a writing retreat in beautiful McCall, Idaho. Participants spend 2 days writing, reflecting, and relaxing on the shores of Payette Lake. While the retreat is an intense few days, most participants manage to sneak in a little fun and a lot of laughter along the way!
Participants in the BSWP Summer Institute earn 6 Graduate credits from Boise State University. These credits are offered at significantly reduced cost, and can be applied to a variety of graduate programs at Boise State University.
