Michelle Payne earned her doctorate in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of New Hampshire in 1997. She teaches nonfiction writing, first-year composition, theories of rhetoric and composition, feminist literary theory, and research methods in composition and rhetoric. She is the author of Bodily Discourses: When Students Write About Abuse and Eating Disorders, as well as co-editor of The Curious Reader: Exploring Personal and Academic Inquiry. Her current research explores the literacies of faith-centered students in the writing classroom.
