Associate Professor of English
John Battalio teaches both undergraduate and graduate technical communication courses. His teaching interests include web and XML development, and online help systems. He has also taught technical communication courses on the Internet since 1997. His research interests include the influence of XML and single sourcing on technical communication, the use of technology in distance education, and the rhetoric of science.
His publications include The Rhetoric of Science in the Evolution of American Ornithological Discourse and articles appearing in publications including IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication, Technical Communication Quarterly, The Journal of Technical Writing and Communication, Quarterly Review of Distance Education, and The American Journal of Distance Education.
