February 14, 2007 -- Valentine Raffle
Sigma Tau Delta made $377.00 in our Valentine raffle! With matching funds we
will have over $1000.00 to spend on school supplies for Middleton High School
that burned down on 2nd February.
The winner of the raffle was Patricia Caruthers who graduated with an art degree
last semester. She won a gift basket full of Valentine goodies worth $100,
including a gift certificate donated by The Red Feather Lounge in downtown
Boise.
Thanks to everyone who bought tickets for this worthy cause.
Thanks also to our volunteers who sold the tickets:

January 27, 2007 -- Academic
Decathlon
Sawtooth Middle School in Meridian
Six Sigma Tau Delta members, three fellow BSU students, and a poet/writer
from Ireland gathered at Sawtooth Middle School in Meridian to judge essays
in a regional academic decathlon.
The junior-high students could chose to write about the Earth's wobbling
axis; what we might learn from the climates of Mars and Venus; or humor,
pathos, and irony in *The Good Earth* by Pearl S. Buck.
We had great fun reading about 80 short essays. The winning essays were
impressive, and we hope the authors will one day enroll at BSU and become
members of our chapter!
Many thanks to our volunteers:
