Officer Positions
Every spring we hold elections for officer positions: President, Vice President,
Secretary, and Treasurer. Being an officer of Zeta Upsilon is an honor and a
wonderful opportunity for members to serve our chapter, the university, the
community, and Sigma Tau Delta. Officers help organize fundraisers, service
projects, and social events. The work is always fun, sometimes challenging, and
very rewarding
If you are interested in becoming an officer, please contact a current officer
who would love to guide you along in the process. Also, check out this link for
officer job descriptions and eligibility requirements:

Regional Officer
We are part of the Far Western Region of Sigma Tau Delta. At the International
Convention, members can be nominated for Student Representative or Associate
Student Representative. Those who are elected serve for one year. Student
Represent-atives are required to attend Sigma Tau Delta board meetings in March
and September, all expenses paid to the city where the following convention will
be held. It is a great honor for a chapter to have a member hold a regional
officer position. You don’t have to be a chapter officer to be nominated. Please

The Annual International Sigma Tau Delta Convention.
Members of Zeta Upsilon have attended annual conventions and have had exiting,
rewarding experiences presenting their writing and meeting other Sigma Tau Delta
members from across the country.
Each convention has a theme that asks members to consider how varying
traditions, influences, or figures come together to produce something that is
new, unique, or different. Students and active alumni are invited to submit
original short fiction, poetry, and personal and analytical essays focusing on
or relating to the convention theme, or any subject of interest to the English
discipline. Students, faculty, and active alumni may also consider proposing
panel presentations. Conventions typically host about 100 sessions.
Guest speakers from the genres of poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and film present
their work and conduct informal workshops and roundtable talks.
The convention also hosts dry t-shirt and bad poetry contests, and chapter
development workshops. The convention ends with a dinner and an awards ceremony.
