A paper pulp casting of a bike tire tread adorns the cover of Heather Katula's history and survey of mountain bikes. As well, her text block contains pop-ups and a volvelle, a movable wheel--a natural for a book about bikes. Reading Katula's work with its variety of structural enhancements to the basic codex form is as exciting as riding the bikes about which she writes!
