Hi there everyone -
I am sending this out to everyone who I feel might well be interested
in one of the summer fiction writing workshops I'm going to be running
beginning the third week of May. I will be leading both intermediate
and advanced workshops - ideally surrounding students with fellow
writers who are at a similar level of experience and comfort. Both
levels of workshop will be designed to help all you writers further
develop full and rich characters and plots, to help you hone your
dialogue and setting skills, to help you infuse your stories, or novel
chapters, with heart and wisdom and truth.
We will be reading and studying published literary short stories,
novel chapters, and writing-related essays. And each student will get
an opportunity to workshop and revise at least one short story or
novel chapter. As well, you will be given the opportunity to meet up
one-on-one and work on specific elements of your fiction. I'm not
oriented terribly well to genre fiction - as a writer, or a reader -
thus my workshops will be focused on the writing of character-driven,
literary fiction. We will also be discussing the ins and outs of
publishing your work - how and where and when and why. Please feel
free to forward this email to anyone who you feel may be interested in
working on his/her writing craft this summer. And if anyone who
receives this email has further questions about my credentials, my
intents, my focus for these workshops, feel free to email me at this
address, or call (208) 830-9995. I hope to see a number of you this
summer, and I hope all is well.
Here are the rest of the details:
- The classes will meet once a week, and will run six consecutive weeks.
- The classes will be capped at ten students.
- There will be (ideally) both early summer and mid-summer workshops offered.
- The cost will be $150 per student, paid at the start of the course.
- We will be meeting at a yet to be confirmed downtown location M,T,W,
or TH (depending on the best days for use of yet-to-be-confirmed
location and convenience of the students).
- The class sessions will run approximately three hours - 6pm to 9pm.
That's all I can think of, for now. Drop me an email or phone call if
you have questions, or would like to sign up and nail down your spot.
Thanks for your time, and keep writing the good words -
Christian A. Winn
