Dr. Jennifer Black has taught English at Boise State since 2001. She received her Ph.D. in Renaissance Studies from Boston University in 2004; her dissertation was an interdisciplinary study of women’s self-representation in Early Modern Europe, focusing on the poems of Isabella Whitney and Vittoria Colonna and the paintings of Clara Peeters and Sofonisba Anguissola. Dr. Black teachers classes in English literature–especially the literature of the English Renaissance (including Shakespeare), English composition, Foundational Studies, and Humanities. She also helps to facilitate the eCampus Teaching Online Seminar and mentors Boise State faculty members who are teaching online. As part of the Collaborative for Teaching Writing Online, she has published articles and presented at numerous regional and national conferences. Her research interests include the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, Online Teaching, Epic Poetry, Women’s Literature, Renaissance Europe, and Interdisciplinary Arts.
