IEP Admissions

Before preparing your application, please make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Have at least a basic understanding of the English language
  • Have the proven financial resources to meet your educational and living expenses during your study at Boise State University
    • F-1 Students: minimum amount $4887.00
    • Transfer Student: minimum amount $4887.00
    • Other Visa Holder: $2190.00
    • Resident: No financial proof needed

Application Form

WHO ARE YOU?

To successfully complete the application you will first need to identify your applicant status:
*Please note that each application will require you to upload a copy of your passport, photo ID, and/or financial document. We recommend you have these ready and saved in PDF format before you begin the application process.

F-1 Student Visa or F-1 Student Visa Transfer—Applicant seeking an I-20 form, necessary to receive an F-1 visa or transfer to Boise State from another program in the United States.
Resident—Idaho resident who must provide documentation of permanent resident status.
Other Visa Applicant—Holder of alternative visa type and/or who wishes to study part-time. Other visa types include F2, B1/2, L2, etc.

F-1 Student Visa Holder/Transfer Student

If you would like to study as a full-time student in the Intensive English Program, you will need a student visa. After you submit your application form, documents, and payment, your application will be reviewed. Once you are accepted, the IEP will send your I-20 and other essential program information.

A. For Online Applications

  1. Complete the Full-time Visa Application Form.
    1. Please note you will be required to upload a copy of your passport and your financial document. Please have these documents ready to submit before you start to complete the online application.
  2. Pay the $125 Non-Refundable Application Fee.

B. For Paper Applications

  1. Print and complete the F-1 Student Visa/Transfer Student .
  2. Collect the following documents:
    • Official Financial Support Statement from your bank, sponsor, or guardian certifying that you have sufficient funds available for your studies at Boise State University
    • Passport Copy of the identity page of your passport, showing your photo and full name
    • Enclose $125 application fee in check or money order.
  3. Mail your completed application, required documents, and application fee to our mailing address:

We need to receive your application materials in time to issue you an I-20 visa form; remember, it can take several weeks to receive your student visa!

Resident

If you are a resident of Idaho with proof of residency, you qualify for the resident tuition rate. This includes permanent residents, green card holders, and naturalized citizens. Please contact our office if you have any questions about qualifying for resident status in our program.

A. For Online Applications

  1. Complete the Resident Application Form.
    1. Please note you will need to upload a copy of your proof of residency. Please have this document ready before you start the online application.
  2. Pay the $50 Non-Refundable Application Fee.

B. For Paper Applications

  1. Print and complete the Resident Application Form.
  2. Collect the following documents:
    • Proof of residency
    • Enclose $50 application fee in check or money order.
  3. Mail your completed application, proof of residency, and application fee to our mailing address:

Other Visa Applicant

If you are currently in the US and would like to study, you are eligible to apply in this category. Please contact our office at iepinfo@boisestate.edu to learn about your study options. Part-time study is often available for students holding alternative visa types.

A. For Online Applications

  1. Complete the Other Visa Application Form.
    1. Please note you will be required to upload a copy of your passport and your financial document. Please have these documents ready to submit before you start to complete the online application.
  2. Pay the Non-F1 $50 Non-Refundable Application Fee.

B. For Paper Applications

  1. Print and complete the Other Visa Application Form.
  2. Collect the following documents:
    • Official Financial Support Statement from your bank, sponsor, or guardian certifying that you have sufficient funds available for your studies at Boise State University
    • Passport Copy of the identity page of your passport, showing your photo and full name
    • Enclose $50 application fee in check or money order.
